I Ran 60 Miles in 13 Days and Here’s What Happened

As I dive deeper into my “Running at 40” fitness challenge, the countdown is on: I have just 60 miles left to conquer in the final 13 days. It’s an exhilarating yet daunting task that is pushing me to my limits.

However, like any journey worth taking, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Last night was one of those evenings where, despite my love for running, I found myself really not wanting to lace up my shoes and hit the pavement. It’s funny how some days, the motivation just isn’t there, even when you know you should be out there.

Yet, amidst the hurdles, there were also some memorable moments. I experienced the serenity that comes from running alone at dusk, the thrill of discovering a new route, and the joy of connecting with fellow runners during a group session. These moments remind me why I embarked on this journey in the first place.

I’ve picked up a few insights along the way, especially on those tough nights when my motivation dips. It’s all about embracing the journey, understanding that it’s okay to have off days, and remembering why I began this challenge. Those times of struggle often lead to the biggest breakthroughs.

As I push through the final miles, I’m reflecting on what I’ve learned: it’s not just about the distance covered, but the experiences and growth achieved along the way. Here’s to finishing strong and finding the joy in every step, even when my mind screams for an evening on the couch instead.

Stay tuned as I continue this adventure—there’s still a lot more ground to cover!
